MS Office
« on: March 31, 2004, 05:00:18 PM »
Ever since we got Office 2000 it has worked fine until about a week ago when the New Office Document item in the start bar started to play up. A Windows Installer requester appears saying "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 Premium"

It then asks for the Microsoft Office 2000 Premium disk but the version we have if Office 2000 not Office 2000 Premium.
Besides we don't have the CD-ROM/s for some strange reason though Word, Excel etc are registered (to my dad).

Any ideas why it is now doing this, when it was fine before, would be appreciated.

Ages ago... (Well, back in 2000) I was making a corporate build for Win98/Office 2000 deployment (via Ghost) and ran into this problem.  Our solution was to remove the Office start bar and the "New Office Document" shortcuts.  That part of Office seemed to be bugged all the way around.  If it's anything close to a fast machine (>200mhz) remove the "Office Fast Start" as well.
