More than one Hard Disk (HDF) file?
« on: October 05, 2024, 05:21:19 PM »
I've been testing with HDF files (tinkering with having Workbench and Blitz Basic 2, while I'm waiting for the team to add BB2 to AmiBench) and have come across something that I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature limitation.

When adding HDF files, I can multi-select them (see screenshot), but when I click the "Select File" button it will only add the top one.  I can then only "Replace Hard Disk" (see screenshot), but not add any more.  So I am unable to have (for example) both Workbench and Work partitions.

I note that all the preinstalled AmiBench apps have more than one partition, so am not sure why we cannot setup our own things in the same way?

Are you able to boot a WB3.x HDF ? Would be very interesting since I only get a red screen/Software Failure ...

But yeah, adding more HDFs than one would be nice :)

Yes, it worked fine.  I created a fresh Workbench 3.1 install in WinUAE using the Amiga Forever ADF disks.  Used it on the GS with the Amiga Forever A1200 3.1 Kickstart ROM.

I then added a simple hard drive installable game and that worked fine too.  Another day I’ll test Blitz Basic 2 but got sidetracked trying to figure out how to add another partition.

Yep, got it sorted -> https://forum.amiga.org/index.php?topic=76775.0

But funny enough, you CAN select more than one HDF after the ADD (they get orange) but only the first is recognised and been added to the config :(

Has anyone had any success having 2 hard disks installed or even a single hdmi that is partitioned? I have a single hdmi with 3.2 running but cannot add a second drive for a System/Work scenario. If I try to create a partitioned hdf then it fails to load
