Problems Loading Lotus Trilogy
« on: March 23, 2004, 03:08:19 PM »
I've been reading the forums for a while now - an excellent source of info. I have only just signed up though.

Anyway...I downloaded Lotus trilogy for CD32 from Back 2 the Roots - (I assume it is legal from there).

I have burned the cue/bin file onto a CD using Nero 5.5 on my Win98 SE PC. The disc boots to the game selection screen and whether I choose Lotus 1,2 or 3 I am then unable to play any of the games - the demos/animations just loop around, as if the joypad is no longer being read.

I have burnt the CD three times now on different speeds, all with the same result. The joypad works perfectly on other games. Other CDs that I downloaded from BTTR and burnt in the same way, work too.

I am using a basic CD32. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and what is the solution please?
Thanks.

Hmm...  Strange.  Sounds like you did everything right...  I don't have a CD32, so I can't test this, but I have a couple thoughts...

1) It might be a bad crack, or a mislabelled demo CD.  The CDs from Back 2 Roots are all legal, but often cracked, because those are the only versions available anymore.  (unprotected originals lost)

2) Maybe an NTSC/PAL thing?  Try booting your CD32 in the other mode, and see what happens.

3) I imagine you've already done this, but.....  try the other joystick port?  ;-)

:-?
I also got a plain CD32 and I did exactly the same thing you did (win98, Nero5.5).. It worked all perfectly with me...

A. Did you try to download the iso a second time?
B. Did you clean the CD32 lens? (with a cleaning cd, can be bought in any electronics shop)

Only got to look at this last night.

I set my CD32 up upstairs next to my PC, ready to re-download, re-burn as necessary. I put the last copy in that I burnt to test the different port/NTSC or PAL suggestions and guess what - the games worked!!! I rebooted a few times and have tested all three games of the Trilogy.

I guess there must have been some dirt or something which got dislodged when I moved the CD32.

Thanks for your help. :-)
