Announcing the Amiga.org SoapBox.

Different from the general forums, The Soapbox is an area of the site where the administrators and users alike can share well-written opinions and editorials with the other site's members in a permanently archived, professional fashion. Click on the name of the column to see all the articles associated with that particular column, or the name of the article to directly read that article itself. Depending on your account privileges, you can rate each article, select notification options, or even leave comments.

If you are a registered user, you can even submit your own articles for consideration by our staff. Please be aware that we will reserve the right to run it through a grammar and spell check, but will not alter the premise of your submission.

Check out the Soapbox

When you said Soapbox, I thought of Eastenders and Coronation Street. Or even a soap that's more familiar with yanks, Dallas.  :lol:

Are there any particular limits on subject?  For example would a piece on Digital Art be accepted?

@uncharted,

As long as it was an editorial and not a tutorial, faq, news, or other type article, absolutely.

Wayne,

Can we write an article on anything eg:TV, Amiga, Life and all that crap?

It would be great if we could.  :-)

;-) Since Wayne's written one about the latest Lord of the Rings movie, I suspect that we can take that as an example of the sort of thing that is acceptable.

I'm already working on one, as Wayne knows ;-)  I'm going to finish my grammer/spell-check, and hope someone better than I has a chance to do a chop-job on it! :lol:

@Sumner,

Didn't I just answer that?

I wrote the LoTR thing simply to test the SoapBox module with.  I had actually not really intended it to be a live editorial, but since it did go live, I couldn't see removing it arbitrarily.

The SoapBox section is for things that should be archived permanently, so I honestly believe non-computer rants should be kept to the General forums.  The question I responded to earlier (about a potential article on digital graphics) would be appropriate because -- while not Amiga specific -- is computer-related, meaning it may be valid 5 years from now.  Conversely, an editorial on "the last episode of Friends", or "my life sucks" would NOT be relevant 5 years from now.  If that's the kind of thing you're thinking about, you really need to find yourself a blog.

Hopefully that's not too crazy, considering it's 2am now.

@Wayne

But maybe, we could have it on CDrom or so, all the content of the forum from the beginning of Aorg

I hate to see things like that disappear.

@Speelgoedmannetje

How would a bunch of database records help?  Please keep in mind that all pages on Amiga.org are dynamically generated, not static.  As such, there's not really anything to "save" to cd-rom except raw data.
