Need an Installer replacement
« on: March 18, 2004, 07:07:42 AM »
OK, I have run into another problem.  I'm looking for a simple workbench Installer replacement as I am getting that dreadful "Unable to locate Installer" error.  I have tried InstallerNG and its no good.  It has files missing from the zip file, which I aquired off Aminet.  I also tried Power Installer, that hung the machine and the Guru popped up...lol
Running out of ideas.  I talked to someone on IRC who forwarded me to an FTP site, i think it was their own site and it had a simple installer program.  PLEASE! Show yourself!  Anyway, if someone even has the Installer file I would be happy to even try just copying it to C.  Any help would be good.  Thanks again.

1. Edit the icon for the installer script so it is "Installer", and not "C:Installer" or "Sys:System/Installer" etc - that's why it can't find it. Your other option there is to simply copy it from Sys:Utilities/Installer, to C: and any other common location.

2. All *five* zip files on aminet are windows/linux, and not one has anything to do with installer... Methinks one senses a newbie...

This one is the correct one: http://de.aminet.net/aminetbin/find?installer-43

Copy the executable to SYS:C and SYS:Utilities.

Bye,
