pcmcia
« on: March 15, 2004, 05:24:15 PM »
I am using an Amiga 1200 expanded to Apollo Turbo Mk-II 40 Mhz with 32meg Fastram OS3.9 6.4Gig HD external CDrom 16x,
I am trying to use a PCMCIA card 3com wiht 3c589.device in the correct draw.
I can get as far as the green LED on the PCMCIA end as far as the lead goes, and also the LED on my router (D-Link 604) I have tried to use Genesis and Miami (not at the same time) I just can not connect to the Internet the most I get is typing in manualy
default gateway 192.168.0.1
subnet mask 1255.255.255.0
dns servers 62.31.176.39
            194.117.134.19
It then tells me that it can not find my IP address.
This is taken from my PC using in DOS mode congig /all
Miami tells me it cant obtain my IP address?
and the DNS servers are not recognised?

What am I doing wrong here?
The actual PCMCIA card is Ethernet III LAN PC Card
for 10Base-T Model 3C589D-TP

and another I try to use but no LED what so ever from either end is  3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN PC Card
Model 3CCFE574BT

Any help please I know this should work.

Mike.......

Have you entered a static IP address?

This card doesn't work with the Amiga.

In Genesis, there's a box to enter your IP address near where you enter the netmask, gateway etc. You have to change the combo box next to it to 'static' rather than 'DHCP' or anything else. Enter something like 192.168.0.x where x is different from any other device on your network.
