MIME and LZX in iBrowse?
« on: July 26, 2004, 08:24:28 PM »
When I try to download a .ZIP file off the net iBrowse nicely asks what I would like to do with the file, which I can save it to disk, but when I try to download a .LZX file it loads it into the window as text and does not allow me to save it.  I even tried to SHIFT and then hit ENTER but no go.  How can I make iBrowse see a LZX like a ZIP?  You would think it would be the other way around but no... lol

Go into the ibrowse prefs and change them!

settings --> general--->mime types and add a new entry for lzx

you added save to disk?

extension was lzx ?

Have a look here to get a feel for the use of other types of mime handeling...

[can you not just save the file from the menu?]

In Preferences -> General -> Mime Viewers (or the most bottom item in General menu, can't remember how it's in English, might be External Viewrs) you'll find the definitions for different filetypes. Search for zip and make similar entry for lzx, type:application/lzx, extension: lzx , action: Save to disk

Note that some servers send false header information (or none) which makes some browsers handle the files incorrectly.

Should be ok without restart....

Btw, you can also right mouseclick over the link and choose "Open and save to disk" in the link menu...

Then I think the server is sending incorrect header. Make a html-file including only the url as a link, open the file and then use the right mouse button, I have to use that method occasionally.
