This is entirely false.  You would likely be surprised at the number of people still on dial-up for one reason or another, the use of modems for secure transaction and "cash-less" system backups, and so on.

This thread brings back memories. I'm pleased to report I got it working fine in the end, can't remember how. Just relieved we don't have all that hassle anymore ! :D

Yep.
Here in Australia its not uncommon for an ISP to also provide a dial-up service along with broadband for backup, or whatever other use a person may have of it. Its not really charged for, more of a complimentary bonus, but point being its far from "dead".
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.
