Amiga 1200 Video Issues
« on: May 02, 2016, 12:43:14 AM »
I have an NTSC Amiga 1200 (I live in the US) - and verified so by the oscillator on the motherboard.

I'm getting some flickering and such with the composite output going to my TV.  The cable is good - as I checked it with my Atari 2600 (modified for composite output).

Here's a video of what I'm seeing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLDFqUfCbfE

Could this be due to the motherboard needing to be re-capped?  I've got a cap kit on the way just in case.

I'd agree, worth getting a recap done. If you know how to pull the board out and want me to do it I can. I have several others here I am currently working on though. Shoot me a PM if you want it done. Its going to need it done regardless. Im US located and only charge a little over what the caps cost me.

I'm an electronics tech - so no big deal for me.  I've got a new set of caps that I ordered from Cosmo, just waiting for them to arrive.  I figured with the age may as well go ahead and do everything right off the bat and not have to worry about stuff later.  Thanks for the offer though.

Probably should get a cap kit for the power supply too... I've got a Blizzard 1230 Mk 4 with the added FPU and 128M of RAM onboard so I don't think I'll need an upgraded supply.

If its the stock PSU I would order an ATX to 1200 adapter to get more juice out of it too. Dont waste time on the original if it needs work.

Also if you order these from Digikey.com I think you would like the qualiety better. They are expensive, but you wont have to replace them again for a very long time if ever.
