can I add anything to this apollo 1230

I plan on adding a simm socket but was wondering if there is anything else I can do to enhance it.
Such as that open area on the left?

From the pictures on Amiga Hardware database it looks like that blank spot is for an SMD '030.  Maybe you can overclock it?  I'd make sure to add a heatsink or two if you're going to try that.  ;)

Edit: probably couldn't hurt to get a matching pair of whatever the fastest SIMM's it will support, too.  :)

That looks like some Chinese knock-off.  Personally I'd buy one from someone here in the US, but it might work fine.  As the old saying goes, you pays your money and you takes your chances!  ;)

Of course that's assuming the board logic can even handle 50MHz.  I don't think any of us here know for certain, we're just guessing. :)

Well, according to Big Book of Amiga Hardware this is an ACT Elektronik Apollo-MKIII accelerator that was also sold as 50Mhz version.
So yes, it can probably be overclocked to 50Mhz.
