Wanted 68060
« on: March 05, 2016, 01:20:15 AM »
I'm looking for a good place to pickup full featured 68060 chips with fpu and mmu. This is for use on a 040 -> 060 adapter. Any suggestions for a trustworthy place to buy such a processor.

try amibay, they come up quite often.
example,
http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?81075-CPU-MC68060RC50-Rev-6-Mask-71E41J

I would be actually a bit suspicious about this offer. The mask revision cannot be read because it is hidden under the CPU cooler. I would probably try to get an arrangement with the seller to return the CPU in case the mask revision is not the promised mask.   You can read out the CPU revision in the PCR register of the CPU, so this is a relatively easy verification.

I'm also looking for one; but indeed it seems to much to pay for an unknown 68060

It all depends on what revision the 68060 is. Revision 1 can easily be found on eBay, the more rare revision 6 (overclock friendly and runs much cooler) is harder. I think I have a few 68060 with revision 1 that I can sell for 7-80 Euro

I have bought 6 of Andry's Rev 6 68060 (new, old stock) for 150 EUR and all were exactly as described.  It is (in my humble opinion only) that when he lists a used pull Rev 6, and he says he tests it, then it is real, and 120 EUR's ain't bad for a near impossible to find CPU.

As noted Vide Supra, this is IMHO only.

I have a few real 68060RC50 & RC60 rev6, marking down the left hand side has 002,004 & 006 ending, but I am only willing to sell a de-soldered 68060RC50 rev6.

I have to agree with the other posting here, why would you put a heatsink on a rev6?

FREESCALE marking, you can't go much wrong here & should be real.

One other note, you can overclock some older revisions to a higher than normal overclock frequency, but you have to Increase the voltage a litter higher than 3.3v.   ...I forgotten which older revision this works on, but if I find time I will check & post again. If I remember correctly I think I raised it to 3.45v.

Interesting; but how can you raise the 3.3V from the regulator?, feeding it from a different source?

Drop in replacement regulator. 3.38/3.45 or 3.6v.

Fake rev6 68060.  ..look at the date it was manufactured, this will also give a clue, if it is a real rev6.

Here is the marking of one of my Processors.

MC68060RC60.  71E41J.  QQDD0312C.  S23328-006.

you can see it was made week 12 year 2003 & 006 also gives a indicator this is real.

Here's another

MC68060RC60.  71E41J.  QAN0102A.   S23328-004.

2nd week year 2001, this one has 004 ending, which also indicates this is real..
