asimcdfs missing icons
« on: January 27, 2016, 02:06:32 AM »
This is really two questions:

1)  I have been playing with my Pioneer DRM-604x cd disk changer.

I can get the device to properly mount and disk changer to switch the disk, but disk icons are not showing up.  I can properly list the content of the CDs in the shell or in DOpus. So this disks are mounting properly, the issue is only the icons.
Any ideas????????
Further note:  CDs without own icons like a Mac OS 8.1 disk use the default OS 3.9 cd icon.

The configuration is:
A3000 WD -08 scsi chip with luns active  16 meg fast/2meg chip
 Pioneer DRM-604x cd disk changer.
AmigaOS 3.9 BB 2
AsimCDFS v3.0
other less relevant configuration:
Cybervision 64/3d
Emplant
A2065
ZorRam 128 meg

2) Does anyone have the AsimCDFS patches?  I have multiple legal originals (and manuals) an only am looking for the patches.  (I know this came up on Amiga.org before) I use to have them but unfortunately cannot find them.

CDO: is defined from the AsimCDFS Prefs and uses the CD0: from the storage drawer for DOSDrivers. There should be no CD0: in your conventional DEVS:DosDrivers drawer. Further the disk.info obviously needs to be on the CD. I am looking at a CD for Amiga software at this moment on my 4000 with AsimCDFS under 3.9 and the icon appears on the screen and the disk.info is on the CD. Obviously without that it would call up the standard OS3.9 disk image. I ran SnoopDOS just to see what was happening and the ENV drawer in RAM shows everything but the disk.info is called from the CD0: in the AsimCDFS prefs.

Hope that makes sense. The diskchanger fires up on the head of the screen but by that time the CD is already mounted with the image from the disk on the screen. Generally I have the CD in the drive at boot anyway.

Not sure about patches. Mine just works. I use the AsimCDFS disk changer. Not sure how that differs from your Pioneer.

Thanks for the reply :)  Yes what you wrote makes perfect sense!  I checked to see if the OS 3.9 installed cdfs version of cd0: was still in sys:devs/dosdrivers/ and it was properly removed, further I checked to see if the cd0: in sys:storage/dosdrivers/ was the asimcdfs version and it was properly installed.

No possible remount, mix up of the file systems.  So I tracked down my disks with asimcdfs patches.  (It was in a box in the basement, lucky my basement is dry.)  After literally a half-dozen patches I was up to version 3.10 of asimcdfs and magically the disk.info on the Cdroms started to work!!!!

Additionally it looks like that 3.10 includes Joliet extensions in addition to rock ridge extensions.  Joliet extensions was the only reason I was using cdfs on my other Amigas.

With all of asimcdfs' features I might be putting asimcdfs on my other amigas even on ones without diskchangers (I only have one diskchanging cdrom drive).
