Autobooting 1.3 Cd for A570 or CDTV
« on: September 13, 2015, 03:59:42 PM »
There has been discussion about bootable AmigaOS 3.9 being sold for CD32s.

My question is how does one make a bootable CD for the Amiga?

My specific desire would be to make a custom workbench 1.3 disk with lot of utilities for an A570.

I am guessing several people would like to do this for many Amiga configurations.  Including CDTVs, CD32s, A570, and AsimCDFS autobooting.

It's pretty simple - just put your directory structure together and then make an ISO image with the cdtv.tm file embedded. The .tm file and a utility to build an ISO with it are part of the CD32 devkit on the Amiga Developer CD. MakeCD can also embed the .tm file.

Hmm, new stock seems to have dried up. Here's one on eBay. The necessary files can be found on any version of the CD (1.1 and 2.1 are the most common; 1.2 also exists).

Versions of dubious legality can also be found via Google...

Thanks for all your help.  I bought an Amiga Developer CD V1.1 disk.  The ISOCD seems to work well.  The only issue I am having at this point is when I attempt to make a CD that boots to workbench but the CDTV.tm screen stays.  The workbench screen never comes up, it does seem as if the workbench is loading, and is probably in the background.

Any ideas why the CDTV.tm stays?

I got it to work.  In other web searches I found out that one needs to run rmtm which I assume means remove trademark.  It works! The problem that I had was rmtm is not on the amiga developer cd v1.1 (it might be on others newer versions) however it is on several cdtv disks.  Just get rmtm from one of these disk and run rmtm at the beginning of the startup-sequence.  poof, the trademark screen goes away in a few seconds.

Great, glad you got it working! I had a feeling it might have been something like that. I think there's a similar tool for the CD32 called "FreeAnim"

Interesting that rmtm wasn't part of the dev package. I'll have a look at v2.1 of the CD sometime to see if it's there.
