PageStream and the Missing Fonts Curse
« on: October 03, 2015, 08:21:41 AM »
Hi,

So. I have a PageStream install (4.x) on my MorphOS machine. The problem I have is that a subset of the available fonts appears to be missing.

For example, the default font (on creation of a new text box) is Triumvirate. On typing though, nothing appears in the text box. This is the case for a number of other fonts (e.g. Garamond). Some fonts however (e.g. Book), do work. The ones that work seem to be blocky without any nice anti-aliasing. I can't imagine using those in a professional publication.

What am I doing wrong?

(All I'm really after is a decent Arial font, that I can output to an EPS file for sending to a printing company.)

Thanks!

This is probably obvious, but have you tried checking in the Fonts: directory, or where ever PageStream stores its fonts, to see if the files are actually there?  I haven't used PageStream since the mid-'90s, but from what I recall it came with it's own fonts disk and stored them in a separate location from the system fonts.  Maybe it needs an extra assign or something?  Good luck!  :)

Missing fonts is a bummer but of even more concern is the missing development. Pagestream used to be awesome and upgraded often, no so much anymore.
