Which is why the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum built the Udvar-Hazy Center, conveniently 15 minutes from my house.  Space Shuttle Discovery, SR-71 Blackbird, Concord, Enola Gay, and tons of Apollo-era space stuff, as well as the largest IMAX movie screen on the east coast.  Anybody from this forum ever visits the DC area, I'd love to show them around.  ;)

Well, they didn't really have much choice, there isn't a basement big enough to hold that lot:)
But I am sure they still have a lot of stuff stored out of sight.
