Microsoft contract prevents them from being sued
« on: February 27, 2004, 04:14:52 PM »
Heh, this is a good one.  Microsoft's contract with companies has a clause which prevents them from being sued for any patent infringement.

Full story

Microsoft is accused of making companies such as NEC, Hitachi and Sony, who want to pre-install its Windows software on their computers, sign away their right to sue, even if they find Microsoft has used their patent technology.

Microsoft were sued a couple of years ago for using licensed code in their products that they'd neglected to pay the license for.

I suppose this is what passes for a lesson well learnt at Redmond.

It's a dirty trick, yet somehow, I'm not surprised.

Ahum, it is like saying. We are going to use your patents and we do not intend to pay you for it, sign here to accept, or do not pre-install "our" software. One more for the monopoly.

Dirty trick? New low? That's a standard clause in just about every contract written in the United States.

This doesn't surprise me in the least.  Friggen M$ is abusing their monopoly again.

Amiga users whining yet again about Microsoft, but if Amiga companies did the same the attacking would turn in to praise. i hope Microsoft get away with every single thing dodgy they do.

Maybe these f**k ups which are sadly called "Amiga companies" would take note for once.
