Best Amiga Shows in the UK
« on: January 15, 2015, 11:20:17 AM »
Hello everyone, what are the best Amiga Shows in the UK and when are they? I've been in to Amiga for over 10 years now and I've never been to a show or an event. I know Amiwest is in California, but it would be cool if a small group from Amiga.org and EAB organised a trip there. Saw some photo's from a blog and it looked amazing.

The only Amiga events I'm aware of are organised by the Amiga North Thames group: http://www.amiganorththames.co.uk/

However, we do have other retro computing and gaming events in the UK, for example Retro Revival: https://www.facebook.com/FusionRevival

Plus, the demoscene is still active and we have a fantastic event once (recently twice!) a year down on the South Coast: http://sundowndemoparty.net/

The North Thames events are probably the closest to what you're looking for.  The Retro Revival event is great (multiplatform) family-friendly fun whilst Sundown is mostly booze fuelled with huge projector and sound system, late night partying and BBQs on the beach at 2AM :D

Thanks, they look pretty cool. Saw the video on youtube where the kookytech guy goes to Retro Revival and picks up a copy of Marvin's Marvellous Adventure for the CD32 with one of the player's saying that this game has the most insane music ever. Out of the 3 events, I think Retro Revival looks the like the most exciting one.

Quite a few Amiga fans came to last year's Recursion Computer Fair in Stratford-upon-Avon. We are hoping to have even more this year, what with being 30 years and everything...

Please get in touch if you would like to attend or run a stand/display/activity.

This year's Recursion will be on Saturday 4 July. I'll be starting some proper promotion in February.
