Get a production run of 15khz monitors
« on: December 26, 2014, 09:03:03 AM »
If we pick a 15khz capable monitor, we can contact the manufacturer and ask them to a production run. I will make some enquiries.

I would be happy with 17 inch or 19 inch.

Would anyone recommend a model?

Actually, why? There are today monitors that accept, off the shelve, 15kHz horizontal input. These are usually the cheap models that are just LCD TVs without the receiver, coming from the same production line.

Old 4:3 LCD TVs are cheap as dirt, in theory every one of them works also as a flicker fixer. It is bad that SCART connector is only in Europe, but someone could buy a bucnh of them to export USA and Australia.

Dell has a number of models produced under their name that accept 15KHz input (in fact I'm watching Netflix on one this evening via a Roku stick) such as the ST2420.  I'm sure that they subcontract with an Asian facility to produce them, since Micheal Dell gave up that dorm room a few years back.  Any one speak Standard Mandarin?

Or just search the ewBay site or Craigs list for a used one.

The fixed resolution of LCDs can be frustrating on the Amiga, though, with non-standard resolutions. Ah, the good old days of full overscan and scanlines on  CRT...
