thanks,I would ,but as i stated i never tracked down what the problem was exactly.I just left the fresh install with bb1&2 and called it a day.

Yes, rather than actually lodge a bug report, so that the issue could be properly investigated and fixed, you decided to just spread FUD about the package on public forums instead.

Ok, so I have the ide cable hooked up to the 4way ide interface do I hook the cd rom into that cable or to the 4way adapter? I'm not getting the CD rom drive to recognize using the emergency boot disc.

If you plug the CD drive to 1st port as slave, I guess it would get detected.

I guess if you plug it to the second port, it would require an update to the scsi.device and a reboot to make the second port activated. (which should be inside the S:startup-sequence of the emergency boot floppy)

Of course you need to edit the cd0 (or cd1 or cd2 or cd3) inside DEVS: DosDrivers directory and change the device and unit according to where you connected the drive to.

So if I keep the cd drive connected to port 2 one the 4way I need to chage it to master and select CD2?

I didn't ready anything FUDdy in his post.  Just carefully worded and reasonable warnings:

1) He had some problems after installing BB3 and BB4
2) He did not track down the problems, but rather corrected them by rolling back to BB2
3) Recommends having a backup before installing BB3 and BB4 -- BB1 and BB2 make this recommendation, as well.

No fear, uncertainty, or doubt there, IMNSHO: 1 is a statement of factual experience, 2 is an admission of not wanting to be bothered finding the problem, and 3 is good and solid advice before making any changes to a critical system.  When queried further, he just said "things" happened to him that he didn't want to bother with.  Another perfectly valid response when something goes wrong and you lack skill, time, or wherewithal to troubleshoot.  Nor is anyone obligated to do so, let alone make a report on the grounds that "something" is screwy.

It's happened to me in the past with other software packages, and no package nor collection of packages are immune to something going awry, given the massive variety of system configurations which exist in the wild.  Nothing here worth taking offense to.

Yes. (Or you can still use CD0 but you'll have to edit it make it unit 2)

The important part is to have the appropriate lines in the Startup-Sequence that would enable the second port and reboot so that it becomes available.

This isn't one of those adapters that needs a software patch to activate port 2, is it?  For ease of setup it might be easier to keep the CD drive as slave on port 1 (with your hard drive as master) for the initial config.  Just something to check if you're still having issues!  ;)

Yup, it seems like it does need a software patch so its giving me grief. Im not getting anywhere.
I tried putting the CF card with OS3.1 that I got from AmigaKit directly on the IDE connector on the A40000 motherboard and it only just boots into the WB screen and freezes at that point (the capslock LED flashes on the keyboard)
Ideas?
