icons / random sounds
« on: February 20, 2004, 03:09:37 AM »
Hi - I am working on an icon set (for Amiga OS3.9) --

I have been making the icons as Project icons with the default tool being Play16 or Multiview, since I associate an icon with a sound. Play16 brings up a message window while automatically playing the soundfile, while Multiview brings up its own window which you have to click to hear the sound. Is there a more silent way to play the audio so that double clicking the icon automatically plays the soundfile without bringing up any message window? preferably something that is part of OS3.9, rather than an external program like play16.

I was also wondering if there was a way to have an icon randomly play a sound from a list of icons? Is there some kind of iconx script that can be written to do this?

finally, I was wondering in os3.9, is there a way to make an icon a drawer, and double clicking the drawer icon would open the drawer, and play a random soundfile from that drawer?

thanks.

Hi,

Some years ago a software called "MagicWorkbench" or something close to that name was able to make seamless sounds
from key strokes. It was HSN format and played with no, requesters, pops or clicks. Don't recall the quality but,
It may be worth checking. There has to be some trick there.

Hi,

Wondering what would happen if you add tooltype "allquiet" or such. Hmm...
