Amiga Compatiable SCSI CD-ROM?

Hi Guys: Iam looking for Amiga SCSI Squirrel Compatiable CD-Rom or DVD-Rom for my A1200. I bought a Toshiba External SCSI Drive Iam having trouble setting it up. Should I try another CD/DVD?

Would you mind telling us what problems you are encountering with the Toshiba and which model?

scsi devices each need their own address (usually 1,2,3,4,5 or 6)
scsi needs termination (is the ext device terminated?)

do you attend to these issues?

My Amigas aren't very picky about the CD/DVD they use. Could it be the file system you are using?  I always use Asimware 3.8 or 3.10.
As has already been mentioned, make sure you have a unique device number, and make sure it is terminated correctly.

Yes I used proper scsi cable and it is terminated. Iam using the software that came with the Squirrel ScSI.

did you install a proper cd filesystem or are you using the workbench 3.1 cdfs?

although many toshiba drives had firmware problems i was successful in using them on amiga.
 Is the drive a known good/working one?

Hi again: Iam using #5 device number on the Toshiba Drive. I am using Amigados 3.9 & also 3.1.As My OS  its the only device in SCSI chain. I get the same results the software cannot locate the drive. The drive seems to operate ok!I really don't what up with it!

Hi Iam back again, found the trouble. I bought this external inclosure for the drive I can connect power & scsi ok but I couldn't connect device or audio cables wrong type i bought on ebay. Well thats what i get.

I bought a complete external cdrom, hopefully it will work.

I really didn't understand your last post. Here is a link to my website. I don't use 3.9 I have to say, but it should be generally all automated under 3.9. I have had some issue with the interface and some accelerators, notibly the Apollo 060. I had to switch to a Blizzard. The external unit will need power. And the Unit on the box needs to correlate with the Tool for the CD0 in Devs. Also the CD library needs to be linked to the Tool. As I say I know how to configure with 3.0 but haven't used 3.9 that much.

PS The Audio isn't important at this stage. Also termination may or may not be necessary, sometimes its just a switch on the box, otherwise you can buy one. There is a picture on the website. And just a tiny point, the drive will probably only show up on the desktop with a CD in it. Or so it does on mine.

it would be nice if someone can check if the PCMCIA card that comes with Panasonic KXL-810A works in PCMCIA slot, if not possibly try the other model. All is not lost if card is not compatible as it is a nice compact SCSI CD drive and should work. You can also use it as a stand alone CD player.

there is also another model which is CD/RW.

NOTE: both drive comes with a PCMCIA card but only one model has a switch on it to flick it between 16 & 32 bit.

also note CD/RW model can be powered in two ways via a normal power adaptor or direct from the PCMCIA card.
