Amiga 1200 almost alive again... HELP!
« on: July 13, 2014, 07:30:01 AM »
HELP!

I got this amiga 1200 motherboard and parts from a member here...

The motherboard works great. I believe its a 2b revision board.

(I think so, looks like it from here : )

Big problem though, see that piece that connects on  the right side of the motherboard providing the joystick port? That part is missing. I searched high and low online looking for this piece...

All I found was this :
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=49_89&products_id=667

But I don't think that will work because its a female connector and I believe this board piece has female connector also. On the motherboard, looks like female connector on the side...

I'm not sure I'm good enough with soldering to do it the hard way...

PLEASE anyone have a dead 1200 board? I did but its the kind where the port is all on the main board. ARGH! so frustrating.

I suppose the GOOD news is that I was going to build an amiga tower, but not finding the funds for the mediator, I decided to just put this in a wedge case for now. I happen to get a dead 1200. (Board fried I think...) So I'm using the original wedge case for now.

I desperately want to get this going... For testing right now I'm using the old keyboard as the mouse trick... Wow that gets old fast!

PLEASE someone sell me this part or tell me where I can get one so I can have a fully working 1200 again!

Or hey, AMIGA kit, if your reading this, can you hack that connector you sell so it will work for me?

best regards,

Steven

The one available from Amigakit could be easily converted. You don't need the PCB to hold it in place.
If you can't find someone who has already done the conversion. Perhaps someone here has done it.

Just buy some jtag cable and connect them together. No solder involved, can use a hot glue gun but should stay in place on it's own.

You could even get some heat shrink wrap or some cable tidy or even black insulation/electrical tape and wrap them together :-)
