Hello.
I received my order today and i'm going to need some help to install the IDE-fix adapter and the express add-on, though. The 1 leaf instructions that i got with it won't suffice for me:

1. I always thought that the adapter plugs directly to the IDE port of the Amiga 1200. Now, i see that i was wrong. There is an IDE cable which connects the adapter to the mobo.
My question is which way should i connect the cable to the adapter?? It is clear that i must connect the red cable to the "1" marker of the IDE port, but there is no marker on the adapter!

2. Same problem for the express add-on: It is obvious how to plug it onto the gayle chip, but what about the orientation of the cable that connects the express with the IDE-fix adaptor?? There are no markers on the plugs of both cards. :-?

3. Is there a tutorial with pictures somewhere?

Looking at the picture of the IDE-Fix adapter (see below) ... Pin 1 (the one that red stripe on cable connects to) is on the bottom edge of the adaptor, denoted by the 1 printed on the board.

I presume, that in your second question, you refer to the 5 pin connector on the edges of both cards? According to the makers, if you plug the cable in the wrong way around then the software will nag you to swap it to the correct orientation ... nothing will break or go bang as the software will do a diagnostic upon startup and report any installation or adaptor faults.

To err is human ... to BOING divine!

Heh, there is no 1 in my adaptor. There is a tiny resistor where the 1 should be and the 5x2 plug is vertical, not horizontal! I guess i have a different revision.  Anyway, i got the picture on how to connect the cable thanks to you. :-)

EDIT: Oh... what i initially saw as a "1" in your picture, seems to be that tiny resistant, afterall? I am still not sure where the "1" is. :-(
I'm talking about that tiny mark between the IDE-to-mobo plug and the express plug in the bottom-right corner of the card.

 Right.

Neat. Since there are no dangers, i will just try and see.

This is the part i'm talking about. It's a small resistor in my case:

Are we talking about the same thing?

No ... that part in your picture is a resistor ... I'm referring to the 44 pin and the 40 pin connectors.

All stripes should go at the end of the pins, furthest away from from the '40' thats printed in-between the 2 40-way connectors at the top ... See pic  :-)

Right at the very bottom in my picture, you can make out the '1' between the 2 sets of 40-way pins.

I have installed the Express add-on now and i can't get it to work.. :-(
It is recognized by the DiagExpress command, as it warned me that i have connect the cable the wrong way, but once i connected the IDE-Fix<->Express cable correctly, it reports:
Quote
Warning:
Both IDE channels are jumpered slow!
Why have you bought IDEfix Express?

I thought that the problems was the jumpers, so i removed both of them and reboot. It still reports the same message!
What am i doing wrong? Please help.
