Gotek amiga floppy emulator (for use in real Amigas)
« on: February 20, 2014, 04:29:41 PM »
I heard about this on the latest Retro-Computing-Roundtable podcast.  It's the GoTek floppy emulator, which can install in a floppy bay of any old classic computer, but allows one to use floppy images on a USB flash memory stick.

Someone has modified the firmware to work with Amiga disk images.

This is a very cheap device (less than $50US) that is widely available on eBay and elsewhere.  I know there are other such devices like the Kryoflux, etc., but they seem more expensive.  This seems like it could be a big deal for all owners of Amigas without hard drives (or with failing hard drives).

Would also be an easy way for someone who buys his/her first Amiga without a Workbench floppy to get an Workbench image booting.

Did a search in the forum and didn't see this posted anywhere before.
