Real AmiKit v0.5 released.
« on: December 18, 2013, 11:51:16 AM »
We are happy to announce the release of new full and update installers of Real AmiKit!

Free download available at: http://real.amiga.sk/

New features include new programs like BDWatch, BDSlide, WBStartup++, BlackBorder and many more and two new Start Menus for Magellan - now they are located on screen's title bar! TinyMeter dock bar is also new - for those who prefer to use Workbench instead of Magellan. You can configure it using MorpheuZ.

Several programs have been added to Startup-Sequence to speed up the system (and now, if you have an ACA, you can copy ACATune to "C" folder using MorpheuZ.) The commands to use the ACATune have been improved too; now we are using them in Startup-Sequence and in User-Startup through MMU.

Beautiful desktop clocks were added too (see screenshots below). There's a new booting song by Gibs (which you can choose in Startup-Sequence or if you are updating from v0.4 the installer lets you listen to booting songs first and then you can choose the one you like the most). New wallpapers were added as well. ShutDown button has been added to Tools.

Thanks a lot to Thomas for his help with installer, programs, etc, PeterK and James for their support, Mfilos for some tips and to Gibs for his great booting song. Also thanks to Guido Mersmann for VBRControl, MattHey for CopyMem, Thomas Richter for SaferPatches and PoolMem, Jens from Individual Computers for his ACATune, again to PeterK for MinStack and to all the betatesters that have given support trying it.

We are also releasing the so awaited and absolutely new Mattahan's Icons Set. This is an optional add-on for Real AmiKit v0.5 and higher. The icon set is intended for WinUAE or Amigas with powerful accelerators using enough amount of colors. The installation is reversible, of course. Many thanks to Mattahan for his permission to use his png icons, and also to JKSKetchy and to BlackCatLove1 for their permission to use the wonderful Black Cat as an icon for the AmiKit volume.

Merry Christmas!

I use it very fast with my ACA1230/56, the speed is faster and faster with each update -well, I believe I've reached the max-. BTW the commands to use ACATune have been improved if you use an ACA, now I'm using a hole through MMU so now they are dettected -weren't before-.

About a B1260 I don't know the best commands to speed it up to the max using BlizKick -I asked Piru by email without answer-. Any comment about the best config for it would be appreciated, so I could implement it for B1260 users.

I have to comment anyway that I "give" the version running fast, but that means that there are some disabled programs that will only take benefit of a fast accelerator or WinUAE. If you have a B1260 you can use BDWatch and BDSlide from WBStartup/Disabled, or perhaps you will preffer to use AmiStart instead of my fast Start Menu. :)

@ RetroFan

thanks for the info.  I've got a Blizzy 030 MK3 I think.  My 060 is a Viper & Blizkick has no effect on it if I remember correctly.  anyhow will hopefully try installing your Real Amikit on my 1200 over the holidays when I get a chance.
thanks as it looks great :-)

btw, do you have a page/email where you accept donations?

Great. Yes, there is a place although in fact I haven't had any to my version yet. Is this:

@Retrofan

This is so awesome, a million thanks!

I did find an interesting issue.  I figured I'd download the official release instead of the one you had me test earlier to upgrade to the 0.5 release.  So I download the new zip off the real.amiga.sk site.  Mind you, I downloaded the upgrade from 0.4 to 0.5, and not the full 0.5.

Well I found a pretty major bug in it.  Apparently you packaged up the older version of UnLZX, so when you run the install, it says '-o option not understood.' then gives the command options for UnLZX.  I looked at the version of the 0.5 update that you sent me and it has a newer version that works.  So I copied that over, and it worked correctly.

Just a heads up.  Thanks for a great release, gonna reboot my system now (fingers crossed).

Anyone have any idea why the right click menu for DOpus is jacked up?  By jacked up, I mean the main menu that has Opus|Listers|Icons|Buttons|Settings|Compression|FTP|User Menu|Amikit is everywhere, even when I right click on a file, which used to give me a different menu.

This is only after applying the update of 0.5.  Maybe I need to just install the full enchilada.
