To be expected.
Since no percentage is mentioned, this could be a minor problem.

PS2, Wii, ps3, xb360,.... all had teething problems (probably others too, these are just the ones I remember).
Its hardly surprising that as the machines get more complicated these things happen.
Time will tell how serious an issue it is.
PS4 has had issues as well, but sysadmins OCD in regards to MS seems to let that one go :)

Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

I'm not sure that the drive is more complicated, but it's a mechanical part and it could have been damaged in transit. They are nowhere near the level of returns that Sinclair had with the spectrum in the 80's.

commodore shipped known bad computers to meet demand, knowing that instead of buying a competitors product that was in stock the customer would have a broken computer under the Christmas tree. They hoped that they'd have manufactured enough working ones before people demanded a refund.

I'm glad you mentioned 360, the sheer number of butt sniffing Microsoft fanboy losers who bought 3 or more replacement consoles just proves NOTHING will prevent the sale of crap products to loser fanboys :)

The original 360 was the nastiest console (build quality) I have ever used in my life, worse even than the CD32 (although not quite as ugly as a CD32...just lol). If mine had RROD'd I would have never replaced the console...but then I don't fondle myself staring at vintage Bill Gates in his NHS glasses and Walmart shirt type posters like most 360 fanatics who bought multiple consoles after each one melted like a dodgy Wizard of Oz reenactment

Latest thing is that the XBox One's mooted media integration and HDMI passthrough and cleverness doesn't work* when the input signal is 50Hz.

Like in most of the world.

* it introduces juddering and possibly skips frames due to the timing difference, and there are colour changes on top. Some people won't notice, others will be driven nuts.

I worked in a small repair shop in that time frame. There were curious things in customer units that we repaired, but all that was confirmed later. In the summer of '85 we had trouble getting parts to keep up with a nasty lightning storm season so we bought several brand new C-64s off the shelf to cannibalize. We had to laugh when we found the boards were all very obviously refurbished and slapped in new cases.
