Besides IRC, are there any messenger type programs with clients for Amiga and Mac?

Yes I did try that.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but when I open the Agents list, it doesnt show any transports for yahoo or other messengers.  Do I need to keep trying different jabberwocky servers until I find one with the right transports?

Sorry I do not know, but also look at this article in the Amiga Future magazine regarding BitlBee and WookieChat - that also seems to be an option: http://www.amigafuture.de/kb.php?mode=article&k=3477

Alternatively I found out on http://www.a1k.org the following for MorphOS - I think that should work also on the AOS:

Start of the translation:

Messenger for chats Skype,ICQ & others:
IM+ webmessenger works with OWB : https//plus.im/

ICQ+Jabber usage alternativ to the browser-based:
Possible via Jabberwocky, with a server that transports ICQ e.g.
Jabberwocky installation: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pro...ror=netcologne
Register on a Jabber server, e.g. this one works: http://www.jabber.de/
Then login into Jabberwocky with the following login data e.g. xxx@jabber.de / Password: xxx Now add your ICQ account under the window->Agents->"Register". Now Jabberwocky connects via the Jabber.de server with your ICQ account.

I heard the same thing.  The login servers still work however.  SabreMSN works good!

Windows Live Messenger moved to Skype at the start of the year. There are so many proprietary chat and commercial network integrations with MSN Messenger that it will be here for a little while yet.
