Which Monitor / LCD-TV can you recommand

Hi

I wonder which of the todays LCD TV-Set gives the best display result
when you want to run old A500 games in pal lowres.

I imagine that there might be pitfalls like an LCD could erroursly de-interlacing the screen or create other tearing artifacts.

What is your experience?
Are there some model to recommend or to not use?

I wouldn't bother with a monitor, unless it has 15khz inputs (which most don't). Anything with a SCART socket will work, but it will look worse than an old CRT monitor. Also the bigger the TV the worse it will look. I can't even bare looking at a PS1 on a 42" TV.

I can recomend samsung and I also have a really really really cheap VideoSeven 27" LCD-TV wich works nicely.

I have 23in Dell monitor SR2320L.
Works great in almost all Amiga resolutions including PAL.

If you're planning on adding something like the Indivision, pretty much all modern LCD monitors & TV's work great (although you'll always have your purists who say that only a 1084 looks great, LOL).  If not, you'll need something that can sync down to 15Khz.  I've also heard good things about the SR2320L mentioned above.

 I know I had an old Sony CRT which was pristine and gave a great resolution ( but I had to part with it :angry: ) Back in the day in Australia NEC Multisync monitors were always the CRT of choice.
 
These days I use a cheap and nasty flat screen I picked up at Best Buy.

I am using a Samsung SB350 LCD/TV with an Amiga 1200, and it works quite well. The productivity resolution is absolutely brilliant; you can work for hours without your eyes straining. When I want to use games, I used the composite video output instead, and it looks decent. The only problem I am having (I hope someone can help here!) is that when I run a program which switches from one resolution to the other, the screen gets garbled, whereas if I do the switch from the OS, everything works fine.

Might be of interest to other people using the Samsung SB350 monitor/TV: apparently it doesn't like mode promotion. However, if you connect both the SCART and VGA to the same monitor, using only the pal, vgaonly and euro72 drivers, you can easily swap resolution from productivity to pal, and simply commute the monitor output through the monitor front panel.

I have a 19" lcd tv with  RGB to Scart adaptor and it is a very sharp picture.

the best monitor for the Amiga is the Microvitec 1538  
it support all the Amiga AGA modes and the best combination in sharpness and fantastic look in games

I recall seeing the M1764 for sale in magazine ads around the '95-'96 time period.  AFAIR it was just a rebadged Microvitec something-or-other that Amiga Tech came out with.  If you do a google search for the model number a couple threads will come up with comments from people who owned one.

Oh, and the Toshiba TIMM, don't forget that one!  It was supposed to be the bee's knees back in the day, LOL.  ;-)

K, nothanks, I'll stick to my nice 37" LCD, even if at Amiga resolutions the pixels are the size of dinner plates.

Not really. Except for the size. It has a .50 dot pitch if I recall. which isnt that good 1084 much sharper. I have a Pro Sony RGB video monitor  20" that is awesome and supports PAL and NTSC through both rgb (custom cable) and composite.

The best 1084S, but obviously is not LCD . I sometimes use a Samsung syncmaster 940w and conect amiga to it by euroscart with the original amiga cable. Works ok. It has components, s-video, db15, and composite vídeo with stereo inputs too.

This is my VideoSeven 27" LCD-TV it works very nicely. It was a bit a surprice, it was cheapest possible LCD-TV in year 2005. Nice flicker free picture with scart and games a scaled very well to screen.



Only problem is that it doesn't support NTCS

I used to have a 21" Samsung CRT monitor that was amazing! But it was huge, and weighed in at over 80 lbs,
Today I use old SVGA 20" on the A2000 (through FF/SD) or a 22" LED AOC. The AOC is inexpensive, and works great -BUT - It's a monitor not a TV.
I never have found a TV that was worth a tinker's damn....
