Amiga 3000 SCSI work with Cyberstorm MKIII?
« on: May 24, 2013, 07:02:12 PM »
I have tried 2 different scsi cd roms connected to the 3000 scsi and both seem to work until I start installing OS 3.9.

One drive starts installing just fine and stops at 0% on the install screen.

The other drive gives read write errors when you access the CD.

I have tried 2 different 3.9 CD's with the same results.  Tried changing the SCSI settings (LUN, SCSI II queues) no luck here also.

There has to be a simpler way to install 3.9 from scratch...

Thanks!

Matt

As I understand for SCSI the 3000 needs the INIT2 modification done.

The 3000 has the int2 mod.

The int2 is for the cyberstorm scsi and not  for the 3000 scsi.

matt is correct you ONLy need to do the "INT2" hack if you want to use onboard scsi on the cyberstorm ( i had to do this on my old 3000t) the motherboard scsi works fine.

Sounds to me like a termination problem.

It's probably a termination issue as Magnetic says, but make sure you have the 040/060 libs installed correctly too.

Lack of proper termination is probably the most likely problem but other possible problems:

lack of term power (not likely with old SCSI drives but check the jumpers)
SCSI "proto" chip
burnt out SCSI diodes (common on early 3000 motherboards, often visible)
New Rev 7 Ramsey + DMAC 4 can cause problems with some accelerators and AmigaOS 3.9
