WTB Amiga 500/500+ Compatible games
« on: March 18, 2013, 10:26:08 AM »
Hi there. Got my Amiga up and running now :) It's a 500 In a 500+ Case. had to be done hehehe

Trouble is i hardly have any games. Only game I do have currently that works is Monkey island. It's a great game but I need something else. I remember playing such greats like Cannon Fodder and Chaos Engine and even Super Frog whist growing up.

I'm wondering If anyone has any games they would sell or trade for PS1/PS2 games. Originals are always best but heck I would accept "Backups" too.

Thank you for taking the time to ready this :)

Why would you need something else that Secret of Monkey Island? But I guess that you meant you need Secret of Monkey Island 2 ;)

If you are looking for games you can find a lot on eBay. Boxed games can be quite dear but if they are floppies only you can find some good bargain. I managed to find a combination of eight games, including Turrican 2 and Civilization. It just costed me about AU$14 plus shipping.

There are various ways people use:

1. put the adf on a pc floppy disk (use zip/lha if you only have a low density amiga floppy drive) and mount the pc floppy on the amiga using crossdos.
2. transfer them over using a serial cable.
3. use kryoflux/catweasel.
4. connect your Amiga to the internet (it's easier to do it with a dial up modem).

All of them require some form of extra hardware, floppy drives and serial ports haven't been standard on pc's for a long time.

I use AmigaExplorer and it works like a treat. You do need to have workbench floppies for that however. Otherwise, get yourself a KryoFlux controller, though I didn't get the writing of adf's right (might be my floppy drive, or I might have experienced a software glitch that might be fixed right now).

All sounds alittle complex to be honest. I may have to go down the route of buying kryoflux or catweasel drive.

I'd recommend Amiga Explorer. It's easy to use. All you need is the Workbench floppies and a null model cable. A cable can be bought fairly cheap or you can make your own if you know how to solder.
If you have a fairly new PC you probably do not have a serial port. But you can get a USB-serial converter really cheap online. Got mine for AU$5 including shipping.

At the moment. I'm just going to be buying games and that. Catweasel and that other thing cost ungodly amounts I simply don't have lol. As for your Idea. i may try along the line when I get another computer desk as I don't really have anywhere to set her up properly.

Tell me about it:laugh1: I have my A500 in the lounge, on the table when in use, on the smaller sofa when not in use. I've been 'encouraged' to move her to the study but unfortunately I have neither a TV or desk space.

Here are some eBay stores you can have a look at. They sell games and you might find a bargain depending on what you want to play.
