usb cdrom questions

my 1200  is  setup with  compact flash an a external dvd  drive..i want to use a external usb cdrom with my machine  ..what drivers do i need ..when i plug a mouse in it configures itself  ..usb mouse is much better than amiga mouse ..just a comment ..plug a flash card in it auto configures too  ..but usb cdrom an if i do a scan i get nothing ..or  when cddevice is selected my 1200 freezes  ..i use a version of ide fix  ..if i install another cd driver wont that conflict  with the idefix? ..any ideas help?? ..
A500 3.1/8meg/2gigscsi ...wants a 040
CD32/SX1/FMV/FLASHDRIVE/  wants sx32pro
A1200  os3.5 030/50/fpu/mmu/2flashdrives/cd/   indivision coming ..............wants a ppc/060  ACCEL :laughing:

You're using IDEfix... with a USB CD-ROM?  ...I'm so confused.

My .02 cents, if you can add a SCSI controller to your Amiga pick up a SCSI CD drive, they can be a PITA, but still easier than USB on Amiga.  As an alternative, add an IDE CD drive with something like a Fast ATA controller or a splitter cable (the "not safe" option), LOL.  ;)

Usb CD drive can work with usbscsi.device and a proper mountlist.
An USB burner can't work with MakeCD though. I still have to try FryingPan.

With a subway, it will be very slow anyway.

its gonna be a 2nd cdrom  with the ide dvd  ..it does show  in the trident  panel ..correct id  etc  ..i get the message of no class ..is there a usb driver  on aminet ? ..

I'd imagine it should be binding to massstorage.class. You might be able to force the binding. If it still doesn't work (and you can't access it through usbscsi.device) it could be a non-standard drive. Does it need special drivers under Windows? Try a different drive if you can.
