Virus problems
« on: January 28, 2004, 05:16:20 PM »
Hi,

Since today I get a lot of mails that said that a mail could not be delivered/infected with virus. It's that new virus. It is coming back on @flyingpaper.com
ted@... mary@... john@.. That they send a mail to someone that was infected. I own @flyingpaper.com and everything send to it will come to me.

Now my guess is that someone has send me a mail sometimes at flyingpaper.com which has become infected and that virus is making random names on it. Right? I just want to know. :-)

The Novarg / W32/Mydoom.A virus scans the addressbook and local files of the infected machine for email addresses to send the virus copy to. Also, the 'from' address is spoofed.

Generally people don't know how to determine the real source of the virus email (from headers) and send complaints/reports to wrong addresses.

http://spam.abuse.net/userhelp/ has some information how to determine the real source of the email (yes the page is about spam, but determining the real email source is the same for spam and virus emails).

Hi Piru,

Thnx! Also nice to know from who it is coming. Before I go down in the books as mass virus sender. :-)
