Amiga 3000 Rev 7 motherboard question

I have a old Amiga 3000, actually it was the first that I got.  25mhz board, and this rev 7 board came with a rom tower.

     I am wanting to get this going again, maybe as my main machine.  Not sure how much better it would be over my Amiga 3000 16 mhz rev 9 motherboard machine.

     Can someone tell me if there is a way I could install 2.0 chips on this (or higher) without having to use the rom tower (which unfortunately now has a broke pin).   What setting and jumpers do I need to work on?

I think you need to fix or buy another rom tower. I haven't heard of a way to replace the rom tower, or do away with it.
Maybe you can search aminet for a hack.

   Why on Earth did they have the rom tower to begin with?  There are four rom slots there, regular ones like the Rev 9 has.  What was so different about Rev 7?

If I'm not mistaken you can just replace the tower with
ordinary roms for later rev a3k's. The early a3k's used
a special solution, loading the kickstart from the hdd.

set of 3.1 roms...

   Interesting!  So the 3.1 roms made up for the shortcomings of the earlier roms?  That would be interesting.  May have to give that a try.

     We did read something somewhere that some jumper settings had to be changed.  That is one difference between the rev 7 and rev 9 motherboard that I noticed, many more jumper settings.
