Amiga 2000 - Memory question
« on: March 23, 2012, 12:56:11 PM »
My A2000 currently has:

GVP HC+8 with 8MB of Ram
Picasso II with 2MB

Because of this i set the jumper on the GVP HC+8 to 6MB to allow because of the 8MB limit.

Today my A2630 arrived (I'm still waiting for my GVP GeForce 040 to arrive). That has 2MB on board.

Is it best that I disable the 2MB on the A2630 ?

Or should i set the jumper on the GVP HC+8 to 4MB RAM ?

I had the same problem, so I left the memory on CPU card enabled and disabled/lowered the RAM on my RAM card.
The reason is to keep the ram on CPU card for a faster access.
You could actually do a Sysinfo speed test with both configurations and see which way you can get better performance.

I'm not sure you'd have to disable any additional RAM.  The 8MB limit is for Zorro2 RAM.  The 2630 *I think* (very hazy, here) should use local 32-bit RAM.  (ie, not affected by Zorro limits.)

Try it.  If it fails, disable more off the HC+8.  Don't disable the 2630 RAM, as mentioned, it should be MUCH faster than the Zorro2 RAM.

Nope, the RAM on the A2630 is inside the 8MB limit.
However, the DKB3632 (or something like that) adds 32 bit RAM outside the 8 MB limit up to 112 MB.
