Just found a Picasso II and Picasso II+, but for me they both output almost identically.
But to answer your question, for me, no, 800x600 in 16-bit is the best I can get before it can't scan to my monitors requirements and/or the quality starts to drop off.
I will note that on my 3000 I have a CyberVision 64/3D and that card renders 1024x768 so sharp and beautiful that the Picasso II seems a little blurry and dated.
