This is a lovely move, and the source code will be very welcome for those of use who use AROS... I guess ultimately this means Audio Evolution has been shelved for the Amiga.

My ambivalence is palpable :-/

A very nice piece of software. I will surely find it useful for LP recording. I used ProStationAudio up till now but I occasionally get a corrupted file (not fun after recording a 20-30 minute LP side) so hopefully this software will be more stable.  Looking forward to the MorphOS release and source. Thanks. :)

Yep, because we don't have something that allows for the plugins....

I forget what the author told me that was exactly, but MorphOS, AROS, and Os 4 do not have support for it, so this program is stuck at version 4 for us.

I'm not sure where you heard that from, but Davy posted this over at AW.net:

Quote
It's not very likely to happen for many reasons:
- As stated before, although AHI has been open source for a long time, no one has updated it
- wxWidgets port has been stalled for years and I need even more than the core and base parts (xml for instance)
- People would probably moan about why there is no VST support
- I don't have the exact figures here, but I think the total amount of sales from OS4/MorphOS/AROS versions would be between 100 and 150 in 8 years or so of time. Since the user base has decreased since, one needs to think if spending a large amount of time in porting is worth it
- Not going to make friends with this one, but although the Amiga was famous for its multi-media capabilities 25 years ago, it currently is completely not fit for serious audio work with all its Forbid/Permit and Enable/Disable calls. And even if one of the Amiga or Amiga-like operating systems fixes this, it is not fixed in the others.
- The lack of memory protection is of course a serious issue for development. Rebooting after every crash during development/debugging is a real pain.
- I can go on, really...

@ Zadoc

thanks I missed that recent post. I don't blame Davy as the numbers of AE4 for all Amiga flavours are sadly low:(

If this gets ported to AROS after the source code is released, I'll start using it for Amiga Roundtable.

it's been out commercially for AROS for over a year.
