Has anyone tried "Vision" yet?
I'm curious to know what it is like.

It's Mint Linux, so not exactly reinventing the wheel if you are familiar with linux at all.

Some people are impressed with the UI/theme treatment, but I found it to be abhorrent within 20 minutes - but that's more of a personal preference issue I suppose.  I found the blue to be brutal on the eyes and cheap/goofy/gimmicky looking myself, and I never cared for Gnome much, and always disliked Compvis with a passion.  I prefer a more svelte Linux distro.

Personally, I prefer Ubuntu, but I thought they might have customized their distro more.

Mint is just an optimized ubuntu, you can install and use E17 if you
want a simple attractive gui, with the benefits Mint supplies
working under the hood.

I'll have to take a further look.
Personally, Ubuntu is the only Linux based OS I've ever felt like retaining (and I've tried lots of OS').

So now I've got another Linux variant and AROS to try.

I used Vision twice, just so I had a basis for saying I dont like it, and it's not that good. It's essentially a very bloated system as they have filled it with everything they feel you need. Even a base install, without using the second disk, uses more space than a standard mint or Ubuntu install. The graphical look is all flash with no substance and I found it far too much after a short time.

Anyone with a small amount of sense will realise its better to go with a more established distro. Especially as Vision is Mint from a few versions back. I will stick to opensuse :lol:
