« on: February 21, 2011, 11:35:00 PM »
Hi people,it's been a while since i have been on here but some of you may remember me?Well i went back to my A1200 today but need some help as i have not used it with my latest monitor before.

On ubuntu i'm running on 1680 x 1050 16:10 and 60hz refresh rate, can i get a screen mode close to this on my voodoo 3000? if so would someone remind me how setup my amiga to do so.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

The 3000 model of the Voodoo3 has core and memory speeds of 166  megahertz and a 128-bit 2D/3D capability. Like the 2000, the 3000 has a  maximum supported memory of 16 megabytes, but its RAMDAC is 350  megahertz. The fillrate of the 3000 is 166 million pixels per second and  it has a resolution support of up to 2048 by 1536. It uses single pass  trilinear MIP-mapping and has 16 bits of 3D rendering support.

First search on google :)

Yeah i did do that but i'm not sure how to adjust the settings on my amiga to get such screen modes? as the screen modes available in the prefs dont have the one i'm looking for so id assume i need to do something with P96?

-Make sure no other files reside in DEVS:Monitors. Only Voodoo should be there.

-Make sure voodoo.card is in LIBS:Picasso96

-Make sure pci.library is in LIBS:

-run pciinfo from shell to make sure the voodoo card shows up. If not, re-seat the card and/or use a different PCI slot.

-As already mentioned, start the driver by double-clicking voodoo icon before starting P96mode.

-If all else fails, try disabling "loadmondrvs" from the startup-sequence, and uncomment the commands of the default routine to start the display driver. Try this LAST, only if none of the above fix it.

I copied that over from Google, mind :) And yes, you need to create/edit the mode using P96mode.

Hi
Thanks for the reply,my amiga is already setup with the correct voodoo driver and what not as i have had this machine a long time and had another monitor connected. Now i have a new large/widescreen monitor but the screen modes i have the option to choose from are crap.

So there must be a way to get more screen modes options to choose from? i'm currently running 1024x768 which now just looks fat and ugly on a 22" screen.

I've never used P96 but Im pretty sure you should do that with P96mode. Someone else can probably confirm this.

You have to create your new screenmodes with picasso96mode.

p96mode has quite strange UI so it might not be easy to use it at first but luckily we have tutorials on teh net :)  try with this one http://www.amigakit.co.uk/support/picasso96mode.php

Even with a tutorial it might be tricky to create a screenmode, when i have created screenmodes for my tft's i have always had big troubles creating the monitors native screenmodes while resolutions below the native one has been easy. i have had to use the edit button and edit them while my monitors gives me that "out of frequency" message so i've been forced to have patience with them :)

Hi
Been away for a while and just got back to my amiga, right i found my monitor documentation and it states for 1680 x 1050 the horizontal freq is 65.29 and the vertical is 59.954

Now i have set the screenmodes in P96 as i follwed the guide on amigakit but i can't seem to alter the frequencies? they are set as 38khz/64hz.

Oh and another problem,in the settings column in P96 i have two voodoo options due to my old monitor so how do i delete the one i don't want? as due to this i don't see my new screen modes in screen mode prefs.
Any help would be appreciated :)

Try as low a clock as possible; the higher the more ghosting. May be a cable problem, too.
