Amiga Workbench 3.1 boot pics
« on: December 29, 2011, 12:49:55 AM »
Hi all,

I've made some boot pics intended for Workbench 3.1 last weekend and I thought some of you might like them too. I've uploaded them to Aminet but you can grab them here for now.

Salvatore.

Thanks, I use Picboot (it's in the readme.txt) like this: C:PicBoot S:BootPic/#?.(iff|gif) DETACH, there's no need to use StopPicBoot in wbstartup if you don't use the PATCH option. You could also use SysPic.

Thanks, that's why I made them, I wanted a simple, nice and clean boot picture. I searched Aminet but couldn't find anything to my liking so I made my own.

BTW, this wasn't intended as a news item, they are just some simple boot pics. I messed up last night, I was wondering why my post didn't show up though, hey it was late.

I like them, but I would like to make something by my own (I use mostly OS3.9) in CorelDraw. Which are the fonts if you are so kind?
A1200, Lateral 32GB CF, internal Dvd, ACA 1230/56 with an MKII Fast ATA at 9,5Mb/s, another A1200 BPPC project in progress (more or less), and posting from my own/better C64x in my Tv using Hdmi.

I like them, but I would like to have the draw or the font of the letters to make other images in CorelDraw, if you are so kind.

No problem, the original Amiga font used was Bodoni, I searched the web but the closest I came was the BodoniFLF font which I used for the (r) and Workbench 3.1 text. It misses the curves on the Bodoni font used for the original Amiga logo. So I decided to search for the logo on the internet.

I used the Commodore logo here and the Amiga logo  here (scroll down).

And  here's  the template for the Gimp I made.

Actually, the Commodore-era Amiga font was ITC Garamond. Bodoni was used in the Amiga Technologies era.

There were some gallery images posted in May 2007 identifying the Amiga, early Commodore, and later Commodore typefaces, but they seem to have been deleted! I was able to recover some thumbnails using the Wayback machine, but there's very little distinguishable on the Commodore fonts. There's a bit more visible on the Amiga font.

Agreed.  The "k" has a bit too much flair to it to match the Amiga's style...
