Indivision AGA 1200 Mk1 Problems

So this has been an ongoing problem with my Indivision since I first purchased it.

On first cold boot 99% of the time the picture is perfectly fine with no  problems. However after the first warm boot I get a No Signal error  from my monitor. I warm boot again and there's a 50% chance the monitor  comes back up. In all cases the Amiga boots up fine.

If I apply very firm pressure to the top of the Indivision socket I don't have this issue at all.

My A1200 is rev 1D3 and has a Blizzard 1260 (When it had an Apollo 1240 it has the same issue before)

Now I surmise this is a connection issue, I do see someone modified the socket on the Indivision to fit on a 1b mobo.

Anyone have ideas or recommendations? I'm thinking it may need a  replacement socket which I don't have the expertise to replace and don't  have anyone local that I know of either.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is why A1200s annoy me these days. They just weren't designed to be expanded so much. It's inevitable that they will be unstable 18 years later with so many kludges.

Have you already tried on a standard amiga 1200 without any expansions?

You could try to load some games or Workbench from floppy and see if this problem occurs for a couple of hours.

The last firmware of the Indivision is 1.5.

Which PSU do you use?

Do you have a PAL or NTSC monitor?

I have a Phase 5 Blizzard 1260 and no problem at all on my 1D4 mobo.

In this case, it seems related to the typical bad socket issue. The socket has to be reworked or may be changed (see Cosmos blog).

I had this exact problem with my Indivision, Apollo 1260 and Escom (HP Lisa) 1D4 board. It was obviously heat related - gently pressing down on the Indi eliminated the problem entirely. My socket was already factory modified. I ended up adding a small quiet fan above the Indivision, problem solved. Another idea would be to add some material that lightly presses down on the unit with the case closed - naturally just in the center of Lisa so it doesn't trap heat etc.

Unfortunately mine requires more then a bit of pressure. I rigged up something like this which did help with reliability a bit.

Mine also has the CBM chips as well.

Where'd you source the power for the fan? Did you take it off the floppy connector or did you do some soldering off the board?
