Amiga 1200 PCMCIA reset chip?

Hi all, am i right in thinking that if i get the reset chip from amigakit, will this solve my problem with my accelerator conflicting with my PCMCIA slot when i have more than 8mb?
The accelerator i have is the apollo 1230 lc and it is not PCMCIA friendly when there is 8mb of ram installed.

Erm, I don't think so.

IIRC, PCMCIA incompatibility is nothing to do with the reset issue, rather the address ranges that are used to map the memory on the accelerator card. On non PCMCIA-friendly cards, the address range normally used by the PCMCIA slot is used instead to get another 4MB of RAM mapped in.

Nope that won't help, the reset chip is to meant to slove a different issue (which is actually fixable through a software patch anyway).

Either live with just 4MB or sell the card and buy an ACA instead

So do i need to get a better accelerator or is there a simple fix i can do to use the full 8mb?

Oh well i will live with the 4mb untill i can get my hands on a better one.

No, that device just make it so you don't need to run cardreset in startup-sequence which may shave a fraction of a second off your boot time.

It also allows you to attach a reset switch to your computer. Perhaps it is a deeper reset than ctrl-amiga-amiga.

To get rid of the 8mb issue you need to get an accelerator with proper 32bit ram.

Sadly I had to dump my Apollo in favour of a Blizzard Turbo for this reason. I use a tool called CardReset when I fire up my ethernet card for my broadband connection on the 1200 to get Miami working. There is a pin hardwear fix to resolve that issue but I use the sofware instead. Just leave the tool on the Workbench. The bigger problem you have is an incompatibility issue and I would suggest staying with the 4 or getting a Blizzard. I have 32MB on mine with the SCSI KIT which is way more beneficial than the Apollo. Mine was an 060 which was a complete waste of money. Never used it.
