Best Disk Copy utility?
« on: July 25, 2011, 08:16:38 AM »
I have been using X-Copy and D-Copy, but wanted to know if there are better utilities out there.

Also what is the difference (or rather what is) the nimble copy, DOS copy, etc. And which method should I use when duplicate one floppy unto another?

Thanks!
Kind Regards,

Nibble is where it tries to copy non standard disk formats. Normally this is for protection in original games, but the old kylie demo also doesn't use standard trackdisk format (which is why it includes it's own disk copier).

doscopy is where it only copies areas of the disk that are marked as being used by a file. This won't work for alot of trackloading demos or cracked games as they don't use files.

To copy most disks just use the standard diskcopy in xcopy or dcopy. It's largely irrelevant which one you use. I used xcopy back in the day.

I only used X-Copy but IIRC my neighbour used "White Lightning" back in the day, he said it copied the stubborn disks X-Copy couldnt.
