happy 26th, amiga!
« on: July 24, 2011, 07:28:42 PM »
guys,

i'm stunned that this weekend, the twenty-sixth anniversary of the amiga, has gone on almost completely forgotten in the fora. i posted the following on AWN, but only one person seems to have read it, so i'll try here, too. i know '26' isn't an especially auspicious number, but still...

i find it really amazing that after twenty-six years since the announcement of the amiga 1000 there are still so many enthusiasts of the platform, its hardware, its follow-ons, and its derivatives. i know of no other platform that has lived so far beyond what anyone could have reasonably imagined would have been the end in 1994 with the death of commodore.

amidst all of the in-fighting, the scams, the noise, and the drama, there still exists a few thousand of us, still clinging to what we all know to be the most enjoyable computing platform alive.

take a moment today as the amiga begins the second day of its twenty-sixth year to just pause and enjoy what you have, be it a classic 3000T, minimig, SAM, pegasos, imica, or whatever. give it a hug. for whatever flavor you enjoy, 'let's keep this party going.'

happy birthday, amiga.

Gawd... 26 years eh... :)

So for the past 25 of those I was a blissfully happy Amiga owner & user with not a care in the world... :)

Then just over 1 year ago I discovered the internet and this place and found out  Amigaland and it's users was not a happy place to be or full of little happy Amiga campers... :(

Sigh... sometimes seems like the past year has be 26 years long and I've aged at least 26 years in the past ruddy 1... oh well suppose that's just part of the price of being a member of the Amiga Community...

Oh yeah... Happy Birthday Amiga at least I won't be around in another 26 to say happy 52nd... thank gawd... :)

26 years.  Hard to believe.

I remember debating on whether to get an Amiga 1000 or wait for the upcoming IBM "Peanut".

I was so totally underwhelmed when the PCjr came out, I went down the same day and picked up the 1000.

Never regretted the decision.
