guys,
i'm stunned that this weekend, the twenty-sixth anniversary of the amiga, has gone on almost completely forgotten in the
fora. i posted the following on
AWN, but only one person seems to have read it, so i'll try here, too. i know '26' isn't an especially auspicious number, but still...
i find it really amazing that after twenty-six years since the announcement of the amiga 1000 there are still so many enthusiasts of the platform, its hardware, its follow-ons, and its derivatives. i know of no other platform that has lived so far beyond what anyone could have reasonably imagined would have been the end in 1994 with the death of commodore.
amidst all of the in-fighting, the scams, the noise, and the drama, there still exists a few thousand of us, still clinging to what we all know to be the most enjoyable computing platform alive.
take a moment today as the amiga begins the second day of its twenty-sixth year to just pause and enjoy what you have, be it a classic 3000T, minimig, SAM, pegasos, imica, or whatever. give it a hug. for whatever flavor you enjoy, 'let's keep this party going.'

happy birthday, amiga.
