networking Amiga OS3/OS4 with Windows XP
« on: July 19, 2011, 09:18:07 PM »
Are there any good online guides for networking an Amiga OS3 or Amiga OS4 system with Windows XP (SP3)? I used to be able to network between them a while back without any issues. I installed Samba on the Amiga 1200 (I think under OS3.9 at the time), and on Windows XP, all I had to do was run the network wizard; I do not recall having to assign a local IP address (I have a cable modem internet connection which uses dynamic IP assigning), and afterwards, the Amiga 1200 would appear as one of the workgroup computers.

(I am currently running MiamiDeluxe on OS4.0 on the Amiga 1200, which might be the source of the problem - it seems to allow me to connect to the internet under the 68k JIT side of the computer, but does not give internet access to the native PPC workbench) -- I have not been able to figure out how to connect the internet so far running the native Internet wizard on OS4. However, I believe that the Samba installation is the 68k version on the A1200.
