A3000 HD Floppy Dirves
« on: December 22, 2003, 11:30:24 PM »
I supposedly bought a HD (1.76Meg) floppy drive (internal) for my A3000.  It has never recognized HD disks.  Is there something special I must do to get the floppy to recognize or format as 1.76 Meg disks?
Does anyone know the model number of that drive?  I have my A3000 apart and I don't remember which one is which. They are:

Chinon FB-354 (I'm guessing the is the 880K one)
Chinon FB-357A (i'm guessing this is the 1.76M one)

Does anyone know for sure?

There's a jumper on the motherboard labelled "disable df1".  There are times you need to set that enabled, even if you have a DF1, though.  Seems like it there was a strange exception when you have one high-density drive and one low-density one....  perhaps try changing that jumper?

Other than that, the drive should automatically recognize High Density floppies.
