I would prefer to see news and information open to the general public, the entire world including the development community, not just a small number of people who belong to the CAM fan club.

AmigaInc have decided to adopt a different strategy. They only share news with people who have paid for it.

People like me, who have been with  Amiga ever since i bought my first A1000 in 1986, and 4 Amigas since then, aren't allowed to hear anymore news (because i didn't donate money to their famous club deal).

In normal business practise, it's the opposite, with companies searching for every possible way to make good news reach potential customers.

But it's quite simple. No news, no AOne for me. :-)
I thought i had seen a lot in the Amiga history, but this is a good one.

And i'm way past the stage of caring anyhow.

Wouldn't the fact that the Amiga Inc website *was* updated with an Christmas message indicate that they were still around?

I would prefer to see accurate, concise, factual content posted on the amiga.com website.

It amuses me that some people will whine and bitch that they haven't said anything when they aren't under any obligation to do so.

By your logic they aren't under any obligation to be in business either!

BTW: Who is 'whining/bitching'? Certainly not me!

They have said stuff - in CAM, which admittedly isn't publicly available, but is good to hear.

Fan Clubs are great for the fans. I am not a fan or a fan club member. I am only interested in real development, marketing, PR, and things related.

But, there is no pleasing some people - they could announce that they had replaced Windows as the OS of choice for Dell, and *someone* would complain that it should have been HP or Gateway.

How does this metaphor compare to the amiga.com website content?

Now, if you were looking for this announcement, would you go to amiga.com to read about it, or would you believe it if it was just a post on ann.lu by an anonymous poster? :-D

That's sad if you put it like that. But also it's not that you miss a lot of news from not having the CAM. It's not that the whole business plan of Amiga is being put up there.

And you just tell us that news without us having to pay up? Nah serious, that's a way to deal with it.

But still sometimes......

Well, the CAM does come out publicly after a set length of time. It's no different to subscribers of magazines getting them by post before the issue is available generally in the shops. Also, in my experience, any BIG scoops are leaked the same day to ANN and ORG.

Well, that's a real shame. I can't see the 'news' issue as being a problem. Mind you, when OS4 is shipping in 'release' form, given your long association - How long do you think you will be able to resist? :-D

To me, what Amiga Inc. does is a non-issue.  The only things that matter is that the new OS is being worked on regardless of what happens to Amiga Inc.

The only way the stop becoming a non-issues is if they do something to screw up the development  and/or release of OS4, which would be bad.  :-(   Or they somehow manage to recover and start making some intelligent decisions, which would be good.:-)

Other than that; I don't care what they do or put on their website.  I rarely go there anyway.
