Happy XMAS? Or just another year gone by?
« on: December 01, 2010, 06:08:49 AM »
Our hobby is 25 years old. I don't have a lot of physical Amiga gear, but plenty of fond memories. I jumped ship to PC when they were cheap and anyone with sense did the same so Amiga didn't burn up my life savings. Of course I was born an Amigan and shall die one, so I'm still here.
Good news for me this year is the FPGA Arcade and also how mature AROS is.
Is Christmas going to bring joy this year, or will it be a bit of sadness?

For me it's a bit sad because there won't be an Amiga Christmas Tree website or a Festive Amiga Game Making Competition this year.

Being back in the Amiga scene after too many years makes me very happy.

Aros is going strong and gaining really active developers, MorphOS is running on some pretty nice available hardware, AGA clones are about to ship and I'm working on my own cool projects, so the scene seems pretty good to me.

It seems more promising than in many years from what I've heard so cheer up!

Looking back this year brought some advancements:
- MorphOS runs on PowerMacs and eMacs and improved overall
- MorphOS's browser OWB really caught up to date
- Sam 460 is ready to ship
- AROS made plenty advancenemts
- Arcade Replay is close to be finished
- new 030 boards for A1200 and A600 very close

And there's still a few weeks till X-mas, so some of the close products (460, 030 boards) may get it in time still.
