Virus?
« on: December 08, 2003, 02:55:38 AM »
Hi, folks!

For some weeks now I am tracking down certain
problems, that only seem to occur on this computer.

Among them is Pagestream4.0 not working, AmigaWriter not working properly, the Mu-Versions
of 68x libraries not working and Descent Freespace not working. What was a long time rather a feeling than I had real proof for maybe a Virus or something similar, I dunno. System is A4000 Cyberstorm PPC with OS3.9. Using VirusZ I could determine some of the unknown/suspicious Vectors in RAM to the origin of trustworthy binaries, but not all of them. Now it could be I have a trace. Looking into the Configuration files I found out that there seems to be a printer driver in use which I thought to have abandoned for many months. It is the HP_Deskjet400C. I have deleted the driver manually from Devs:Printers, deleted all the printer related entries in ENV:sys and ENVARC:sys but it still shows up as the selected printer name in the preferences program. Selecting another printer & saving prefs doesn't change anything to the displayed name.

I know this sounds strange, but maybe someone can
give me advice...

TIA,

Scholle
