Working on a rather big php project, and I had an annoying problem when moving from wamp til lamp. That I finally solved, was really because I did not read my own source and the error message correctly.
I also realised that LAMP is more strict than WAMP, which is good though..

Reading the docs, being aware of the fact I could blow up a USB port and still managing to plug in  one of the USB cables on my brand new Deneb backwards.  Port blown.

That was just last Friday and my forehead still hurts. :(

I fried a subway usb card the exact sameway, I saw the magic smoke escape and everything...

I can't get my A2000 to start. Strip out all the resellable parts and to pick it up to chuck it in the bin, then I hear a rattle. A screw is rolling loose on the motherboard. Facepalm.

Get charged 300$ plus $50 labour to replace what I knew was a dead floppy drive, in 1989. I could have got one for $220 and put it in myself. This was also before you got any warranty on a computer/electronics (probably a weeks worth at least).

Not being around when you could charge people $150 per hour to 'service' their computer and then tell them it can't be fixed. Facepalm.

Been there, done that on a IBM single board computer... my coworkers USB thumb drive got so hot it melted the outer plastic enclosure. Amazingly, both the drive and the SBC are still working.

I'd really like to meet the accountant who decided it was a great idea to not put a keyed connector on a USB header.

  • Throwing out my collection of Amiga & C64 Magazines in the early 2000's because they were just taking up room in the garage. Fast Forward to 2010 and buying them + shipping from the UK & US 1 at a time.
  • Putting together a proposal & quick demo program as a 22yo to show Management at my work how we could get clients to dial in and place their orders and manage their accounts only to be told noone would bother to buy a modem

hehehehe I know the feeling.  Back in 1996-ish (22-ish as well) when I worked for a shoe store I started to develop an interactive kiosk system on my 1000 to show off shoes, features, kids sizing information, etc.  Right before I completed it and was getting ready to demo, I was told corporate was not interested because they felt it would take away from the one-on-one customer experience.

These days when you walk into the local store you are lucky if you can get a "hello" from the manager sitting on the floor behind the counter sending text messages.

*sigh*
