It may be a bit of history, but with a starting bid of £7,500 I reckon that will count most folk out... :)

I notice this guys got quite a few other prototypes going up for sale, wonder how he gets hold of them...

Info about the C65 :-

PS:Anyone think this may be a good investment, I may be tempted !!!

I was valuing it at about £5-7K based on the following:
Original price (probably £1K by today's value, thus assuming this is a "new" machine).
Rarity only 200 made according to one source (£2-3K based on min x2 sale value).
The fact it is a working prototype that is importantly unique in being the last of big C (£2-3K).

But how can you actually judge it's worth... if I had it I'd have it boxed away and would only sell for 20-30K, which I'd never get as most people would have a similar valuation as above.

Ive seen them on ebay before, although it could be this very same seller. Would really like to have one, but this is just too much. I'm better off bidding on a C64GS, also quite rare but going for a few hundred euro so a bit more within reach.
Amiga 1200 (1d4) Kickstart 3.1 (40.68), Elbox Power/Winner tower (450w psu), BlizzardPPC 603e+ @240mhz & 060 @50mhz, 256MB, Bvision, IDE-fix Express, IndivisionAGA, 120GB IDE, cd, dvd, Cocolino, Micronik Keycase, PCMCIA Ethernet, Ratte monitor switcher, Prelude1200, triple boot WB3.1 / OS3.9 / OS4.1, Win95 / MacOS8.1

A package that probably loses half it's value if you open it...

They change hands for 1/3 of that price in working condition so it's typical ebay loser going OTT with his mouldy old shit :)

I've actually got a C64GS.  I got it for £5 from a bargain bin in Tandy in the UK back in the 1990s.

Unfortunately it is unworking, but I think it can be fixed.  Just never looked into it.

I may just swap the ROMS out of it into a real C64 and see if anything happens.

The guy with videos on youtube sold his 3 months ago for about AUD$15,000.  So the advert isn't that far off.

I called my brother today and asked if he wanted to have a share in this one, but he said no.  So I'll not be bidding.

If it were £5k I may hazard a bid!

Ahhh the C65! I got screwed out of mine from The Grapevine Group back in 92-93. I ordered it, paid for it, and never  received one. It's a painful bit of Commodore history.

rare??? these c65 are popping up on ebay every year.. so not rare at all, its only a question if you can afford one. but as i see it paying that much for old tech aint worth it, its old it can break anytime then your left with a £7,500 plastic case and some scrap metal... haha!...

These seem to show up on eBay once or twice a year. Some of them are fully functional C65s, others are earlier developmental prototypes. Would be cool to have and play with a fully working one, but... not something I'd ever drop that kind of money on unless I were a millionaire.

1 hour to go and no takers.

Looks like he may have asked for too much.

Of course it's rare.  It's also overpriced, but let's not knock the free market.
